A preliminary version of the story which would eventually lead to the creation of THE REAL TOON BLUES: the Crossed Over pitch bible details life in a town where fictional characters have crossed over into reality, and cartoon hero Teddy must team up with fangirl Kari to defeat the villains who come their way, while also adjusting to his new life in her strange city. The original version from 2018 and an updated condensed 2022 edition were pitched to Frederator's Cartoon Hangover and Nickelodeon's Content Accelerator, respectively. Crossed Over's concept is simple: the connection between a person and their favorite character is undeniable, so what if that were literal? It acknowledges the natural desire of the audience to meet their heroes, and thereby aims to provide wish-fulfillment by showcasing a reciprocated love between popular fiction and its fans. Crossed Over's tone is that of a cartoon which loves cartoons, viewing imitation as the sincerest form of flattery and parody as the funniest form of comedy. Its main goal is to deliver the happy news that your favorite cartoon has not forgotten you.
